After much speculations and anticipations id Software the developers of the Doom series of games has announced that Doom 4 is indeed under development. John Carmack – co-founder of id Software gave the first hint about Doom 4 during the QuakeCon on August 3, 2007 by quoting “There will be a Doom 4, we don’t have it scheduled or a team assigned to it, but there will be a Doom 4.” Id software confirmed this in a posting made at http://www.idsoftware.com/ on May 7 2008 in the form of a hiring notice for game developers towards this project.

According the id Software website production has begun on DOOM 4. About the hiring requirements Todd Hollenshead - CEO, id Software – is quoted on their website as "It's critical for id Software to have the best creative minds in-house to develop games that meet the standards synonymous with our titles."

If you find yourself game for joining the development team then make a visit at id software’s career page at http://www.idsoftware.com/business/jobs/index.php.

Even though the platform or expected rollout date of Doom 4 is not mentioned the title has already begun to cause anticipation fever among the gaming community and is expected to be as exhilarating as its predecessor titles.
