According to Japanese Newspaper Sankei Shimbun, the Japanese Association of Psychiatric Hospitals has asked Gamecock Media Group -  the developer of Dementium: The ward game title – via it’s distributor InterChannel to pull this Nintendo DS title off the store shelves. This survival horror FPS depicts the tale of a man who is trapped in a derelict hospital that is frozen in time.  He has to fight for his life against deadly grotesque surgical experiments happening in this hospital and offers some real chilly game play.

The organization was concerned that the game might "encourage discrimination and prejudice" against those with psychiatric disorders and so that they have requested to curb the sales of such titles. Gamecock Media has responded to this accusation as a lack of understanding or appreciation and fear of games outside the Japanese sub-culture on the part of those who are making such an accusation.
