Sid Meier, well renowned computer programmer and computer based strategy games developer, has been declared the most award-winning game developer by Guinness World Records. He was highly acclaimed for the Civilization series of strategy games, which bagged a barrage of awards. He was named in the 1999 Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences’ Hall of Fame, in the 2002 Computer Museum of America’s Hall of Fame, was awarded the commemorative star on the Walk of Game in 2006, was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2008 Game Developers Choice Awards.

Responding to the Guinness Book achievement Sid Meier said,
I’m fortunate to be able to do what I love and am grateful for all of the wonderful recognition I’ve received over the years...It is every kid’s dream to make it into the Guinness World Records and I’m thrilled to be a part of the prestigious book.  I’m thankful to the many game critics who have enjoyed our games and hope they are as excited about our upcoming Civilization Revolution title as I am.”
