A thirteen-year-old Grapevine native, Daniel Johnson beat the Guinness World Record for the highest score on a single song in the Guitar Hero III:Legends of Rock while attending the Guitar Hero 24-Hour Marathon at Dallas. He scored 890,971 on an XBOX 360 – he bettered the previous record held by Chris Chike by more than 10,000 points – while playing “Through the Fire and Flames” by Dragonforce with the Mode of difficulty set to Expert. Guitar Hero III:Legends of Rock is a music video game from Neversoft, RedOctane and Activision and was released for PS3, XBOX 360, PS2, Wii and PC.

The Event, which was presented by Blockbuster, was a benefit event for Education is Freedom - a non-profit foundation in Dallas –, which is dedicated to increasing the educational achievement of children in Dallas. Speaking about his record breaking performance, he said, “I’m glad that I had the opportunity to break the record and help people learn about Education is Freedom.” Several Dallas CEO’s, Dallas Mayor Tom Leppert and Jim Keyes, CEO for Blockbuster all participated at the event.
